Why Solar With Philip Exists

Homeowners are not looking for more pressure. They are looking for clarity.

Hi, I'm Philip.

Most homeowners are not looking for solar panels. They are trying to determine whether solar makes sense for their home, whether they should lease or own, whether batteries are worth considering, whether the proposal in front of them is a good fit, and whether they can trust the people who will carry out the work.

Too often, homeowners are asked to make a major decision before they fully understand their options or what the project journey will actually involve.

That's why I created Solar With Philip : a place to learn, ask questions, review proposals, understand tradeoffs, and make a confident decision without unnecessary pressure.

Good advice is not about finding the easiest product to sell. It is about helping the homeowner choose the right path.

My Philosophy

Confidence comes from understanding.

My role is not to convince every homeowner to go solar. It is to help you understand the options, evaluate the tradeoffs, and know what to expect before you make a commitment.

◎

Education Before Decisions

Understand the recommendation, the assumptions behind it, and the alternatives available.

◇

Transparency Over Pressure

Sometimes the right decision is to move forward. Sometimes it is to wait or choose another path.

✓

Right Expectations

A successful relationship begins with an honest understanding of the process, timing, responsibilities, and limitations.

Guidance Through the Journey

The signed agreement is not the finish line. Questions often increase as the project progresses.

⌂

Homeowner-First Thinking

Recommendations should fit your home, energy use, goals, finances, and long-term plans.

∞

Long-Term Relationship

My goal is to become a resource you can call before, during, and after the project.

Experience With Perspective

An engineering mindset, applied to the homeowner experience.

My solar journey began more than 12 years ago. Since then, I have watched the energy industry evolve through changing utility policies, the growth of solar leases and PPAs, battery adoption, and California's transition to NEM 3.

My background includes 12+ years of experience in residential and commercial solar and building energy consulting, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Sacramento.

That background shapes the way I work. I focus on systems, assumptions, tradeoffs, long-term outcomes, and helping people understand how the pieces fit together rather than simply telling them what to buy.

The Solar With Philip Journey

I do not just present an option. I walk the journey with you.

A clear, homeowner-centered process helps reduce confusion, align expectations, and create a stronger working relationship.

Understand Your Situation

We begin with your home, energy use, utility, priorities, future plans, and concerns.

Learn Your Options

We compare ownership, financing, lease or PPA, batteries, utility service, and whether waiting makes sense.

Review the Numbers

We look at production, offset, batteries, utility assumptions, costs, and long-term tradeoffs.

Set the Right Expectations

We discuss the real process, timing, responsibilities, and what solar can and cannot do.

Navigate the Project

I remain available through design, permitting, installation, inspection, and activation.

Remain a Resource

The relationship does not have to end when the system is turned on.

The Foundation of the Relationship

Setting the right expectations.

One of the most important parts of a successful solar project is understanding what the experience may realistically involve before it begins.

Every home and every project is different. Honest expectations make communication clearer, reduce avoidable surprises, and help build a stronger client relationship.

Your Home Deserves Care

How can you trust the installation will be done right?

This is one of the biggest concerns homeowners have, and it should be. Solar becomes part of your home, so the experience depends on more than the panels. It also depends on design, engineering, permitting, installation, inspection, and long-term support.

I may not be the person installing the equipment on your roof. My role is to help you understand who is responsible for the work, what protections and warranties are included, what questions to ask, and what to expect throughout the project.

The best projects begin with an informed homeowner, clear responsibilities, and realistic expectations.

Let's Start With Clarity

You do not need to become a solar expert. You need enough clarity to make the right decision for your home.

Whether you are reviewing a proposal, comparing ownership with a lease or PPA, considering batteries, or simply deciding whether solar makes sense, I would be happy to help you understand the next step.

Start a Conversation

No pressure. Just a clear conversation about your situation.
